VVNKM SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL ANNAUL REPORT – 2020 – 2021
The academic year 2020 -2021 was started during the 1st phase of COVID-19 pandemic prevention lockdown times.
The key highlights of class X result [AISSE]:
100% pass percentage consecutively for the past 32 years.
SCHOOL TOPPERS:
- NISHITHA – 486 / 500
- SANKAMESWARAN – 477 / 500 [Centum in Maths]
- PADMAVATHI – 475 / 500 [Centum in Social Science]
The key highlights of class XII result [AISSCE]:
100% pass percentage consecutively for the past 9 years.
SCHOOL TOPPERS:
- MANJU RHEKHA – 482 / 500 [Centum in Chemistry]
- DHANUSH – 476 / 500
- SUSHIL KRISHNAN – 475 / 500
- Avinash – Centum in Computer Science
Due to extended total lockdown, our School communicated and continued with instructions of academic content via online mode.
ONLINE MODE OF LEARNING:
We reached our students through whatsapp groups & School App Our teachers were subjected to quick learning sessions on usage of tools like zoom & Microsoft Teams.
We evaluated our students learning milestones through online worksheets, quizzes, objective & subjective assessments that were posted on our school app.
We had to continue certain sessions like yoga, basic exercises, fine arts and computer basics for students’ mind refreshment & relaxation via online platform only.
ACADEMIC:
Mastery of learning targets was assessed through periodic test, half yearly exam and annual exam. Question papers were shared in the app in PDF format.
Term I & Term II question pattern for grade I to IX were carried out through our school App. Objective type questions were given in the google form by sending a link. And the subjective type questions were shared in the School App.
LEARNING GAP SURVEY:
To understand the scenario of online learning of school students amid COVID 19 pandemic, a survey was taken by the teachers in order to know about the percentage of children attending and not attending the online classes in regular and measures were taken to assess the learning gap.
LIBRARY: To motivate the habit of reading books, our school library staff had shared the stories with a power point presentation for KG to VIII. For Classes IX to XII, videos on motivation and the importance of reading books were shared.
ART INTEGRATED PROJECT: Art integrated project in each subject was taken up by all students of class I o IX. Children contributed themselves with creativity and carried out this project with great success. The marks awarded for these projects were considered as a part of subject enrichment activities.
REPORT ON SPECIAL EVENTS
Special occasions were conducted online / offline with due social distancing and necessary preventive precautionary measures.
- FOUNDER’S DAY:
109th birth anniversary of our founder Sri N. Krishnasamy Mudaliar was celebrated on the 18TH July 2020. The school toppers of AISSE & AISSCE and the staff were honored with cash prize.
- INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY:
The International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21 June 2020. Videos of various yogasanas were performed by PET staff and the same were shared to the students through Parent App.
- INDEPENDENCE DAY:
Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2020 in the school in a simple manner with the PET staff.
- TEACHERS’ DAY:
On September 5th Teachers day was celebrated in the school premises with all the safety precautions. Students of class XII shared their wishes & blessings in voice message which was shared to staff.
- CHILDREN’S DAY:
A day of innocence, playfulness and freedom was celebrated on November 14th, all the class teachers have recorded their wishes and shared to the students.
- CHRISTMAS DAY:
Christmas Day was celebrated with our staff. Our Correspondent shared his New Year blessings to all the teaching and non-teaching staff.
- ONAM:
Onam is a harvest festival and is the most prominent festival of the Indian state – Kerala. It is celebrated on 5th Sep 2020.
- NATIONAL YOUTH DAY:
Children of class UKG to II were informed to dress up like Swami Vivekananda and to share their speech. Received good response and the same was shared in the social media too.
- DIWALI:
Diwali celebration with staff was done on 14th November 2020.
- REPUBLIC DAY:
To instill patriotism in students, Republic day was celebrated on 26th January 2021.
- PONGAL:
Pongal celebration was done with staff on 13th January 2021. Few traditional games were conducted for the staff. The staff members have participated with great enthusiasm.
CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME:
Principal & teachers participated extensively on the Capacity building programmes that were planned and executed by our COE, Chennai, RO via online sessions. There were no offline trainings conducted.
PARENTS’ OPEN MEET [ASSESSMENT OF e-learning]:
The Principal invited the parents to assess the progress of the online classes in different sessions in order to find out the difficulties they face in the online classes that were conducted by our school and to avail their various suggestions for improvement.
CONCLUSION:
The global pandemic has led us to a paradigm shift in the way we learn today. Even though our students are learning through online mode, top priority is given to academic performance.
